Zusammenfassung
Der Debattenbeitrag diskutiert die Vor- und Nachteile einer Habilitation insbesondere für Juniorprofessor_innen. Dabei zeigt er zum einen Chancen auf, die sich Juniorprofessor_innen in dem vorherrschenden akademischen System erst durch die Habilitation eröffnen und zum anderen die Absurdität, die dieses Verfahren mit Blick auf den Universitätsalltag, die Art der Prüfung und ihren Zeitpunkt birgt. Argumentiert wird für ein Infragestellen und letztlich für eine Anpassung bzw. Modernisierung des Systems.
Abstract
Do junior professors also need a postdoctoral lecture qualification?
The article discusses the pros and cons of a postdoctoral lecture qualification particularly for junior professors in the German academic system. On the one hand, it describes opportunities presented by this qualification, but on the other hand, it also addresses the absurdity that comes from academic everyday life, the characteristics of this qualification process, and specific point in time during a career in which it takes place. Finally, it argues for a modernization of the system.
